Starting late in the game hasn’t slowed Russell Brown down. Not long after starting his culinary journey at 27 years old, he received Michelin-stardom.
His first position was in Truro’s Alverton Manor as a commis chef in their two AA rosette restaurant. It was here that he learned “discipline and attention to detail,” from head chef Colin Gilbert, who soon promoted him to chef de partie.
Russell says one of his “most significant experiences” was at Yalbury Cottage in Dorset as their Head Chef, and in 2003 he moved on to open his own restaurant, Sienna, with his wife Eléna. The small venue was given a Michelin star in 2010, making it Dorset’s only Michelin-awarded restaurant.
Now you can find Russell running his highly-regarded, culinary consultancy business, Creative About Cuisine.
